Melbourne Writers’ Festival 2011
Have you seen that passes to MWF 2011 are now available?
“Join us from 25 August until 4 September at Federation Square and selected venues around Melbourne. Our festival program will be available online and in The Age on Friday 29 July 2011.”
“Make booking your festival events easier, with our Hardback and Paperback Passes: advantages include discounted tickets and priority queuing”
Hardback Pass Hardback Full: $350.00
Paperback Pass Paperback Full: $90.00
The Paperback Pass gives you access to 5 regular festival events, plus 2 bonus events on Fridays, all at a discount to the individual ticket price.
Paperback Concession: $80.00
I do find it a bit odd to make passes available when you don’t know what the programme is though.
The only part of the programme available at present is the children’s and students.
There is also no obvious indication of how much a ticket to a “regular” event might cost you, so I’m not sure how much a Paperback pass might save you, particularly if you don’t attend 5 events.
Ned Kelly Awards 2011
In the past the Ned Kelly Awards have been held on one of the Friday nights of MWF.
This has been really great for interstate crime fiction followers who have come to Melbourne for the weekend especially for MWF.
The long list of nominations is at http://www.nedkellyawards.com/index.php/news-feeds/current-nominations
However there is no sign of a short list.
In a cruel cut for interstate visitors the Ned Kelly Awards site has announced
“The Ned Kelly Awards for 2011 will be held on 31 August at Toff in Town, 252 Swanston Street, Melbourne.”
